Hello my friends! I’m happy to be back at the keyboard after a little construction work has been happening on the Lioness site! {It was perfect timing since I’ve been on a little vacation too.}
I hope you’ll take a minute to look around here and see the changes that have been in the works behind the scenes for a long, long time now. Don’t you love it when your background work becomes the foreground result? Me too!
I’ve been thinking about projects and maintenance in general when it comes to our lives as women, particularly as wives and mothers.
It seems that we could be buried in the things that need doing every single day!
Can you relate?
Part of the challenge is knowing what you’re going to do when. {That’s time-blocking.}
Part of the challenge is doing what you know you need to do when it’s time. {That’s discipline!}
And another part is being mentally steady, so that you don’t run screaming when you consider what is before you on one of your busy and complicated days! {That’s prayer and coaching.}
I was coaching myself {after I prayed!} just this morning as I considered all I wanted and needed to do before I left the house at 10:15am.
The advice I gave myself, I’ll give to you:
First, I reminded myself that it takes at least 10 times longer to think about doing a job than it does to just do the job.
Just make the bed. Don’t think about it, just do it.
Just get in the shower and get ready. Don’t think about it, just do it.
Just finish the dishes, all the way. Don’t think about it, just do it.
Just clean the fridge. Don’t think about it, just do it.
Breathe. Consult your planner. Be clear on the overall look and needs of the day. Then set a timer {if you are as time challenged as I am} and begin.
When it is time to go to the next task, go.
The endearing term I use with myself is auto-pilot. I tell my feet or my arms or my mind to, “go into auto-pilot and let’s get this done!”
I hope you are finding joy in your everyday’s!
A bit of inspiration here, a baby step there, and the learning-a-new-skill process is underway.
And we’re all learning!
Love to you!
