This part of the Mothers Standing Strong series is crucial!
You might say that exerting faith can be the deciding factor in our ability to stand at all!
Hello my friend, thank you for being here!
Because we are constantly choosing between feeling faithful or fearful, I want to remind us (myself included always), that how we feel is a pretty good indicator of what thoughts we are choosing to think. (Isn’t it amazing that we can tell ourselves what to think?)
So, how are you feeling? And do you recognize the thoughts you’ve been thinking that have brought those feelings into being?
Until the mid 90’s, when I first participated in a class by Dennis R. Deaton, I hadn’t ever considered that I was making choices about my thoughts. Thoughts just came and the feelings followed and I just thought that was life.
But Dr. Deaton’s teaching shifted my beliefs.
He introduced me to the idea of envisioning our goals and using words to strengthen the vision of what we want to do or be.
In Lioness, we practice something similar and call it the Art of Declaration, because the plans we create to solve our problems, and the vision we create to reach our goals, begin with the thoughts we choose to think!
The truth is, we can choose what we want to think by intentionally writing and rehearsing declarations; statements that are present tense and positive, about what we want to become and do.
My current mainstay declarations are:
I am loved.
I am loving.
I trust in God.
“I am in love, and out of it I will not go.” C.S. Lewis
My body is strong.
My immune system is fully functioning.
I am safe.
I love my life!
What declarations are you using right now? Are they the positive, present tense truths you decided to rehearse all day or are you on auto-pilot, entertaining those thoughts that come, unbidden, like weeds in your garden, that tell you what you can’t do, what you can’t be and sometimes how negatively everyone thinks about you…? I hope you’re not listening to that tripe!
But sometimes we do listen to rottenness and we don’t realize it until…we realize that we’re beginning to feel worried or sad or discouraged. Then, when that awareness kicks in, we can pull these powerful words up to the front of our minds, rehearse them and feel better almost immediately!
If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll write all the declarations of faith your heart desires. Make copies and post them in places where you will see them often and be reminded to speak them multiple times a day. (It’s also powerful to have a copy in your pocket to carry with you!)
Then use them! Commit them to memory! Say them out loud! Sing them while you dance or march doing cross-patterns with your arms and legs or run in place or do jumping-jacks! Just get those big, wonderful, power-house words into your mind and they will bless you and help you stay in faith!
We choose to be fierce in defending our minds from negativity, and we are Mothers Standing Strong!
My love to you!
The mission of Lioness at the Door is to uplift, strengthen and encourage women of all ages to magnify health, hope and happiness at home. We do so boldly, with humility and gratitude for the opportunity.
That was FABULOUS!!! I SO LOVE the reminder. I have made a copy of my affirmations but I don’t always read them. I really like your idea of posting some around the house. I’m going to do that. LOVE YOU, MAMASITA
Thanks! The inside of the medicine cabinet works so well for me…brushing teeth and all that. : )
