We’ve had a ride these last few months haven’t we?
While there have been uncertainties and strangeness, chaos and devastation in some cases throughout this year, there have also been many potential and effectual blessings.
The blessings of being together with family more often and more exclusively. (Some days a challenge and a blessing.)
The blessing of learning together (yes, school!) and creating new traditions.
The blessing of introspection; of slowing down; of new perspectives.
Yet because our children and grandchildren have, on some level, been aware of the angst and fear that has been floating in the air, it would be wise to have a “blessing counting party” to focus on what positives can be found from this season.
Our little ones (and our not-so-little-ones) need our leadership now; they need our dedicated focus on what is good in the world.
We can decide: will we get thrown around by every newscast and new worry that is sent over the airwaves, or will we decide more intentionally what and when and how we will gather information, new experiences and most of all, life-sustaining light?
Will we spend our mental and emotional energy being angry and combative and contentious with one ear glued to the next news bite or will we choose to be with our kids, and present in peace?
I hope we will be found, not “in contempt of joy” but rather, be found, no matter the circumstances around us, seeking, gathering, feeling and multiplying all that is light and good and worthy of our time and attention.
Then give of ourselves, pouring love and joy and light on our family and friends.
Life is still a miraculous and beautiful thing!
God bless,
