Your hands are on the wheel and they are never still.

They move the wheel ever so slightly, making small course corrections to keep your vehicle between the lines.

So it is at the wheel of your mind.

A curve toward distraction here, a detour into self-pity there, and with small course corrective thoughts,

I am loved,
I am kind,
I choose to be in God’s love,

you can be driving along smoothly again.

Or maybe the tiny thought movement acknowledges wrong thinking or selfish behavior. Then the correction that will bring you back may be,

I am sorry.
Please forgive me.

What if you let go of the wheel in a moving vehicle as you’re motoring down the road? How long would it take before you are so off track that you wreck your car? At high speeds, only seconds, right?

Mental driving is the same.

Letting your thoughts run without small corrections, even on a seemingly care-free day, can lead to landing in mental ditches, crashing into other drivers and then you have all the work of rescue and repair ahead!

The fact that your mind needs small, constant corrections doesn’t mean you’re weak or flawed.

It means you’re a living, breathing learning, choosing agent. A divine spirit housed in clay, without an auto pilot option!

Accept the responsibility to course correct, and commit to learning to read the signs!

For instance, mental mud-bogs can innocently start with a veer toward making comparisons. {Really, you would never choose to turn directly onto the road called ,”I’m Afraid I’m Not Enough,” but comparisons will usually subtly wind you there in time!}

So, at the first self-depreciating thought, {that’s the sign} a quick course correction would be useful!

I am making progress.
I am trustworthy and capable.
I am happy for others’ success.

And voila, you can be back on track, totally staying clear of the mental anguish that is fear!

And while we’re on the topic, we all really need to stop mentally driving distracted! {And physically too!}

Turn off the voices and shut out the images that tempt you to take your attention off the road, and a clear view of those blessed, protective lines.

{You can start by turning off notification symbols and sounds since they were crafted to be almost psychologically impossible to ignore!}

Lastly, remember that you were born into this time and in this place by divine design, and you are meant to arrive at your journey’s end safely, with heaven’s help.

So keep praying for guidance and errands to run for the Lord; keep your hands on the wheel of your mind at all times; turn on some epic, soul stirring music and drive on, correcting over and over and over no matter how long your journey is, or where you are called to go.

We can do this, one decision and one thought at a time!

Much love,
