This seems a very appropriate recipe, considering the weather we’ve been experiencing lately! It’s also great for an immune boost.

Ginger Lemon Honey Tea
One thing we make that has helped to “thin the junk out” during colds and flu is a nice warm cup of tea. (Not hot, let it cool before drinking.)
Equipment
- 1 Tea Pot or Small Saucepan
Ingredients
- juice from 1/2 a lemon
- 1/2 tsp powdered ginger or fresh grated ginger if you don’t mind texture
- 1-2 tsp raw honey
- 1/8 tsp cayenne optional (especially for kids)
- water
Instructions
- Put water on to heat, then squeeze lemon juice into your cup. Add ginger, honey, and cayenne.
- Add water to the top of the cup when it is heated.
- Stir and let the tea cool until it is just warm.
Notes
- You can certainly back off the cayenne if this tea is for a little one, but if a person can take the heat, it makes the ginger much more efficient.
- You can make this into a nice cough syrup by leaving out the water and adding a few Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Spicy and good! And very good for a sore throat.
WOW! GREAT IDEA! I’ve done the ginger tea but not with cayenne. I want to try that and I’ve NEVER din that cough syrup but I bet it works . Thanks Tons
I hope it helps! The cayenne gives it a kick for sure! Thanks for teaching me about these herbs, I love having them at my disposal. xoxo
