Hello Ladies! I hope this post finds you well today!
In our Healing With Love class this month we’re learning about unconditional love and the Mindbody Syndrome, specifically in the realm of parenting.
And there is so much to learn that it is challenging to take it baby step by baby step! But, just like eating requires preparing, chewing, swallowing and digesting, our learning requires our attention, desire, effort, repetition, faith and application of new principles to truly become part of us.
So, easy does it. Slow and steady will win this race!
One of my favorite quotes from our text, Dr. Greg Baer’s book, Real Love in Parenting, is this:
“We can’t be happy without knowing the difference between right and wrong, industrious and lazy, loving and selfish.
Remember that the only purpose for telling a child the truth about himself is to help him feel loved and to help him learn to be loving and responsible. We should tell children the truth, but never with disappointment or anger.
We should not tell children the truth about their mistakes for the purpose of controlling them or making them feel bad.” (page 171)
As we read and learn, it’s so important to remember this “why!”
We love and teach so that our children can grow little by little, (just like we do!) into loving, responsible and happy adults.
And, since the greatest teacher of all is our example, I wish us all a week of feeling loved, being loving and responsible!
You are doing a great work!
Take good care.
