Hello my friend! I hope this finds you well.
Today I’m passing on an idea I heard recently from a client. I took note of her thought because it fits so beautifully into our goal of becoming deliberate thinkers! And I might add, deliberate feelers!
Instead of looking back over the day and seeing all the mistakes you feel you made, or obsessing over the maze of challenges you are trying to find your way through, decide to do this exercise instead…
Make a cup of tea, or a warm Epsom salt foot bath, or wrap up in a comfy blanket or create some equally calming and luxurious feeling self-care treat for yourself.
Open your journal or get a special new notebook.
Once you’re settled with a pen in hand, take a few deep breaths, relax and think.
Close your eyes and mentally look over the day you’ve just lived and ask yourself my friend’s inspired question-
“Over the course of this day, how many ways were you shown that you are loved?”
Isn’t that a great question?
I love it!
Think of the smiles, words of encouragement, the small gifts, time given or any number of subtle cues that were shown by others that in effect said, “I love you.”
There may be many that went unnoticed simply because your attention was elsewhere at the time. But now, for a few minutes, think back and see what comes to you.
Would you be willing to give this a try tonight and maybe tomorrow? And if it is as instructive as I think it’s going to be, consider making it a new part of your evening routine?
If you don’t think you could find the time or you have issues with pampering yourself, let me ask you this. Would you do it for your kids?
Why?
Because as mothers, we desperately need to learn to recognize that we are loved and we need that feeling to be front and center in our emotional lives!
Simply put, we need to feel it so that we can give it!
I think some profound revelation is about to flow for those who make this exercise happen!
I’m in!
Sending you my love today,
{There’s one for your list.}
