Hi, I hope you are doing well!
I really enjoy creating recipes- sometimes getting things right and enjoying every bite, and other times crashing and burning and giving mistakes to the chickens to eat!
Along with having something fun to eat, it’s equally nice to make the house smell good!
And is there a smell more welcoming and homey than cinnamon?
Here’s a little treat I’ve been working on lately that brings that rich smell to the kitchen.
Pumpkin Dessert:
2 cups cooked orange squash {any kind}
4 eggs
1/2 cup almond milk {or milk of your choice}
1 scant Tablespoon cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/3-1/2 cup honey
Mix or blend until smooth.
For the crust combine:
1 cup chopped pecans
3 Tablespoons butter
2-3 Tablespoons honey
In a medium sized baking dish, bake for 10 minutes {just long enough to melt the butter and honey}, then stir and spread evenly on the bottom of the baking dish. Pour filling over the top and bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes. {You might want to sprinkle the top with nuts and butter before baking.} Serve with whipped cream or whipped coconut cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg.
For a warm drink to compliment your pumpkin dessert, steep a 1/2 teaspoon of whole cloves in water for 20 minutes. Strain and sweeten with a little honey and or add a little coconut or almond milk for a nice clove tea. Aaah, warm clove tea is calming. I hope you will enjoy this treat!
Take good care,

WOW!! That is a great recipe as I have tasted it on a few occasions. Thank you very much. Now, I can make it! I know that the smell of cinnamon in the house is delightful. When I had my home in Orem up for sale, whenever I was called that my realtor was bringing someone to see the house, I would put water and red-hots into a pan and bring it to a boil and run all through the house with the steam smelling of cinnamon. It worked!!! Everyone that came in felt right at home.
Ha ha ha, so that’s a good use for red-hots! (I had forgotten about them!) Easy idea for creating a homey smell… Special note to anyone selling a house! Thanks Mamacita. xo
