What motivates you?

Really, deep down?

Maybe I could ask, what gives you the most satisfaction?

I can think of several big events in my life that have represented a lot of effort, sometimes years of work to get to that culminating, celebratory moment.

And they were great. And somewhat satisfying.

But, as I consider satisfying moments in our family life, there have been a few Mother’s Day cards and pictures made with crayons that have meant more to me than those other so called big events did!

Granted, parenting is as big an event as it gets!

It’s just that there are only a few culminating, celebratory parenting moments that give you a proverbial paycheck, but millions of smaller deposits {some so small you might miss them if you are distracted} along the way, that keep you engaged and striving to be your best self!

Deep, true and clear motivations are the smiles of a child; a sticky kiss and, “I love you Mommy”; the scenes you witness of your children caring for each other; of little arms, of children {and later grand children}, reaching out just for you.

These are the kinds of daily, satisfying moments that can motivate us to keep trying to be better parents tomorrow than we were today.

No, there’s no better reason to grow than knowing that our children are counting on us to lead them to fully developed adulthood and beyond by getting there steadily ourselves! Think of it: Love is the greatest motivation there is, and it alone gives us courage and strength, when nothing else can.

And tomorrow is a new day. May you be content and happy and moving forward in it.

Much love to you!
