Hello my friend. I hope this post today finds you well, and breathing deeply!
I am aware that many of you are spending a lot of mental and emotional energy on the question: what will happen with school this year? (Or on some equally compelling question you’re working hard to answer.)
Wow, my hat is off to you! As a young parent today, there are some complicated challenges to figure out!
So, as you go about gathering information and weighing options, I hope you will also take good care of yourself!
Break Things Up
To keep from burning out in the problem solving process and to generally stay sharp, take frequent breaks!
Run around the block (to burn stress hormones),
listen to your favorite inspiring music,
take 15 minutes to read a chapter of a good book,
check in with a wise woman or a wise man (to fill up on the feeling of being loved and accepted) and, by all means,
practice breathing deeply, on purpose!
Take a Mental & Physical Inventory
For instance, consider using an hourly alarm to remember to take a quick mental evaluation of the tension in your body, until greater awareness makes the split second process, a habit.
You might ask, feel and answer questions like these:
Are your shoulders hugging your ears? Is your abdomen in a knot? Are your brows furrowed? Are you holding tension in your face that is making your sinuses hurt? Are you holding your breath or just breathing short and shallowly?
If any of your answers is yes, take a deep breath, and let it go.
We Are Going To Make It!
The school year will come.
The right opportunities will emerge.
We will learn new skills.
Because of this experience, we will be stronger.
Most importantly, it will all happen more happily and healthfully as we breathe deeply, even if it has to be on purpose for awhile.
Today and always, I wish you unending hope, unshakable faith and indomitable courage.
You can do this!
